Cubs

Happ CF
Bryant 3B
Zobrist 1B
Schwarber C
Russell SS
Caratini C
EL MAGO 2B
Heyward RF
Kyle Hendricks SP

Pirates

Frazier 2B
Polanco RF
Marte CF
Bell 1B
Dickerson LF
Cervelli C
Moran 3B
Mercer SS
Trevor Williams SP

I sort of like Trevor Williams as a back-end rotation filler. During his career, he’s kept the ball in the park, and if you can do that and stay healthy than you’ll get a lot of chances over your career.

Kyle Hendricks had two bad pitches in his last start, but that will ALWAYS be Kyle Hendricks’ problem. He isn’t going to overpower anyone, so he can’t make any mistakes. Luckily for Kyle, he rarely makes any. The other weird quirk of last start is that he only struck out one batter.

After arranging for Colin Kaepernick to work out for the Seahawks this week, Seattle postponed the trip when the quarterback declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem next season, league sources tell ESPN.

Reuben Foster faces charges of felony domestic violence and weapons possession and remains a 49er (or pick countless other similar examples). SEA won’t even consider a top 20 QB in the NFL due to protest.

Domestic violence = OK. Protest = not OK. Got it.

Clint Hurdle calls out Javier Baez and Willson Contreras: “Where is the respect for the game?” Interesting story from @RobBiertempfel: theathletic.com/311593/2018/04…

It’s at your mom’s house, Clint.

    Or how about…

9/12/2012: “Michigan defensive lineman Frank Clark pleaded guilty to a felony charge of second-degree home invasion during a hearing Tuesday in Washtenaw County Trial Court.”

11/2014: “Somebody in different room heard screaming and yelling, heard noises come out of the room, they thought something was going on and they opened up their door and little kids come running out of the hotel room that Frank was in and screaming Frank is … the witness came out basically saying, ‘Frank is killing our sister.’…they look inside and see this girl on the ground unconscious and they said that Frank is yelling and screaming at people.”

5/1/2015: SEA selects Clark in the second round of the NFL Draft.

After the draft, when asked to justify Clark’s selection: “I would say there are always two sides to a story,” Pete Carroll said, according to Larry Stone of the Seattle Times.

    dmick89,

Maybe, but there’s two sides to every story.

And what the fuck does that even mean? Two sides to every story… Only one thing happened. If there are two sides, it just means (at least) one of the people telling a story about it is a liar or mentally suspect.

Cervelli seems to be chatting with Javy as he steps to the plate. Could be nothing, but I wonder if he’s passing along his team’s annoyance of Javy’s bat toss after the popout last night.

Hey, Francisco, you can keep your annoyance where Javy kept his $1 bill last night: your mom’s house.

I think we should drain all the emotion from the game. Players should get fined and/or suspended for something as simple as a grin.

The younger generations already think baseball is the most boring sport ever. Let’s do everything we can to ensure that legacy survives for future generations.

Doug I love all your stuff and respect the hell out of you- isn’t it ok for a team to take the stance that they just don’t want that distraction anymore, especially after what the Hawks dealt with last year?

    Yeah, of course. Oh wait…

This game sucks, and the Cubs need to remember that they’re allowed to win more than two consecutive games.

Perkins: the Cubs need to remember that they’re allowed to win more than two consecutive games.

The 2016 Cubs was the only Cubs team in the last decade that remembered they could put together a winning streak before the all-star break.

Wishful thinking probably, but I’d like to see this game end on a Javy walkoff HR, in which he flips the bat Bautista style and runs around the bases backwards.

There are actually people arguing on Twitter tonight that the Cubs should have signed Mark Reynolds as a backup 1B. Cubs Twitter makes BCB look like a place for rational debate.
