Hope you had your free slushies yesterday…
Ian Stewart went deep for the 'Topes, part of a 2-3, BB day. His BA is a blistering .194 at the moment. Whatever.
Barret Loux struggled with command in this one. 103 pitches only got him 13 outs, and he allowed 6 hits, 4 walks, and 4 runs. Jeffry Antigua, Marcus Hatley, Eduardo Sanchez, and Brian Schlitter all combined for 4.2 scoreless relief frames, though. In fact, only Hatley allowed a baserunner, a single hit.
Arismendy Alcantara is up to .281 on the year with a 3-4 game. He also drew a walk. Alcantara has a .679 OPS against lefties, and a .894 OPS against righties. Javier Baez struck out twice and went 1-5. Justin Bour had a double and a walk. Jonathan Mota went 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. He also tripled. Good for him.
Someone tell me why Alberto Cabrera is still in Tennessee. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run and a walk. He only struck out 3, but the damage was literally just a solo home run the sweetly named Ji-Man Choi. Tony Zych and Zach Rosscup pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings.
Castro-watch: 3-4, 2 runs. Rizzo-watch: 2-3, 2B, BB, 3 RBI. Nate Schierholtz continues his minor slide, going 0-3 with a walk.
Edwin Jackson went 7 innings and allowed no runs on 3 hits, no walks. He's now 6-10, and I'm not sure anyone else in the league has as many decisions as he does. He's went 12 straight games with one. Actually, I looked it up, and he's tied for 6th. R.A. Dickey is 8-10. Blake Parker had a dicey outing, but James Russell and Pedro Strop bailed him out. Kevin Gregg pitched a scoreless ninth for this 16th save in 17 chances. Holy shit he's been good this year.
Two XBH in this game; a double from Taiwan Easterling (2-4), and a triple from Bijan Rademacher (1-4). Taylor Davis also had a multi-hit game and drew a walk. Zeke DeVoss was 1-3 with a walk, but was also picked off.
Gioskar Amaya was 1-4 with a walk. Albert Almora was of course 2-5 with a double. When isn't he? Dan Vogelbach was 1-4. Jeimer Candelario was 2-4. Giuseppe Papaccio had a double, and so did Carlos Escobar. Escobar had a walk also.
Rob Zastryzny started the game and went a single inning. It was scoreless. James Pugliese went 4 innings and allowed 4 runs (2 earned). Sam Wilson went an inning and allowed nothing, as did Corbin Hoffner in 2 innings.
I'm not sure why Yasiel Balaguert was "demoted" to AZL from Boise, but he was. He went 2-5 with 2 doubles. Josh Vitters also had 2 rehab AB and a walk. Juan Carlos Paniagua pitched in the US! 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 SO.
