Logan Watkins was cursed by Berselius yesterday. He went 0-4. Ty Wright had a double. Junior Lake struck out twice, but walked. He played RF. J.C. Boscan walked and struck out. Anthony Giansanti is pinch-hitting a lot, and he's good at it. He went 1-1 for the 4th time in a row.
Jake Arrieta really sucked. In 3.2 innings, he allowed 10 hits (10!) and 7 runs. Only 3 earned runs on a Murphy error, though, so his 7.71 ERA looks better than it really was. He only walked 1, but why walk when you have like a .600 BABIP, right? Marcus Hatley pitched 1.1 innings and was perfect. Jeffry Antigua allowed a pair in an inning. Eduardo Sanchez and Casey Coleman had identical 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 SO lines.
Castro-watch: 1-3, HR, BB. I'll take it! Rizzo-watch: 2-4, HR, SO. I'll also take it! Alfonso Soriano had 2 home runs and a walk. Awesome. Even little Darwin Barney hit a 3-run blast, his 5th of the year. He's on pace for a torrid 10 HR this year. Nate Schierholtz was 1-2 with a walk, also. Dioner Navarro had a double and a walk.
Travis Wood had yet another quality start. His ERA sits at 2.69. Matt Guerrier walked a dude and struck out a dude. Ok. Blake Parker and Pedro Strop each pitched a dominant inning.
This team is no good. Zeke DeVoss went 1-3 with 2 walks. I will say that only Taiwan Easterling did not get on base.
Ben Wells had a quality start, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings on 1 hit and 1 walk. That's really tight. Frank Del Valle went one inning and allowed 2 of everything. Eduardo Figueroa pitched a scoreless 8th.
Chang-Yong Lim pitched another inning of scoreless ball. Trey Masek had a real bad outing, going 1.1 inning and allowed 4 runs. Erick Leal, half of the Tony Campana return, allowed a run in 3.2 innings.
