@ GW:
Lilly only needs to have more in the tank than Rusin or Feldman, right? And if he won’t take a minor league assignment, then the Dodgers would have to trade him or release him outright? I’d trade them our current starting 2b for Lilly. One doesn’t want to be in the minors and the other should be. Sounds even.
@ SVB:
Sure thing, but I think I’ll wait until they’ve played 200 innings. I suppose right now they’d suffice to yield middle-reliever numbers, but it wouldn’t be a great comparison since a) starter-to-reliever comps aren’t really fair and b) the pitching numbers are good enough that there are probably endless options from the middle of the pack (or better).
Aw hell, I’ll still look at it and see who matches up now.
Since I know you’ve been dying for my latest mock draft for SF, here you go:
1. Jarvis Jones, OLB, UGA
2a. Jesse Williams, DT, UA
2b. Jordan Poyer, CB, OrSU
3a. Vance McDonald, TE/HB, Rice
3b. Stedman Baily, WR, WVU
Every time I adjust my big board and do a mock draft, I’m surprised by the depth in this year’s draft. I’m still getting second-round value in the third and third-round value into the fourth. Rounds 2-4 is where you want your team to be.
@ Rizzo the Rat:
If you rotate Gregg 180 degrees the g’s become bb. So you see, it isn’t his fault. It is a subliminall development issue. He’s doing the best he can to overcome his name.

I guess i should have waited before posting this. I’ll go put on the jackass helmet.

Hey AC, I enjoyed the Cubs season as a single player post. Do you think you can do a pitchers’ one too? I bet the staff is -1.3 war.
SVBQuote Reply
@ SVB:
Per Fangraphs, the Cubs’ staff is at 1.9 WAR (as of yesterday), to go with an ERA of 3.68 and an ERA+ of 112 (i.e., well above average).

Believe it or not, the Cubs are fifth in the majors in pitchers’ fWAR: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2013&month=0&season1=2013&ind=0&team=0,ts&players=0

Cubs pitchers also have 1.9 rWAR, fifth in the NL: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/2013-value-pitching.shtml

Both are likely to go down once those sites update to include today’s game, of course.

Cubs getting dat video board.

Sounds like it isn’t exactly a done deal. They have the usual Chicago obstacle course of hoops to jump through before they can place the order with the giant video board company, it would seem. http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20130414/BLOGS04/130419917

I think you’re just hoping the renovation project gets started soon so you can make Al wear the construction worker’s hat.

Anthony Rizzo and Wellington Castillo are tied for #2 on the team in steals.
Dioner Navarro leads the team in CS and tied for #2 in SB attempts.

Feldman –> Not leading team vs Rangers this Wednesday (Tightness in lower back)

No worries – We have Kameron Loe (6 HR in 6.2 IP this year) and Kevin Gregg to help fill that role!

Wow. In all Gregg’s years as a closer, his lowest ERA was 3.41. That’s… not good.

Jorge Soler’s first game back after suspension will be against the same team the Cubs were playing when he was suspended. (dying laughing)

The Cubs have the 3rd highest strikeout rate and 3rd lowest walk rate. The sad thing is that neither of these are surprising.

The Cubs are 23rd highest in O-Swing% (pitchf/x data). Only the Cardinals and White Sox swing at more pitches.
