I wonder if anyone has ever done an analysis of the strike zone in that game. Like one of those spray charts that you sometimes see. I just think it would be interesting to analyze a game like that to see how much of it is luck, and how much of it is skill. Although even just looking at those twenty pitches, you can see that he was getting just insane movement on the ball.

There was some luck. At least a couple of the strike 3 calls were out of the zone. Then again, the Astros hitters weren’t even close that day. It was funny watching how clueless some of them were.

Yeah, there had to be some. I’m curious what happened earlier in the game. If the ump was being generous with the strike zone, maybe they all got thrown off early. I believe I’ve looked at the play-by-play, and if I recall there was a gap in the third time through the order where he got fewer strikeouts, and then he kicked in the afterburners in the ninth inning.

One could argue that throwing a perfect game in the WS tops it. That’s the only one that comes to mind though.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an MLB team more overmatched than they were that day. Except for the 2010-2013 Cubs on a daily basis.

Sounds like they weren’t mentally prepared.

I think the Astros had a game-low TWTW that day

If only somebody could have told them how much fun they can be having by hitting the ball.

I liked the part where Alou got mad.

I almost went to that game, but decided that the weather was too shitty and stayed home. One of my better decisions…
