Fresno Grizzlies 4 @ Iowa Cubs 1
Mike Olt went 0-3.
Yoanner Negrin got the start and was pretty decent. He allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, but only 1 run was earned. In any case, he allowed 5 hits and a walk and struck out 7. Marcus Hatley and Zach Rosscup each went one perfect inning (Hatley fanned 2, Rosscup all 3 he faced), and Alberto Cabrera allowed a run in his inning of work, also striking out 2. As a team, the Cubs walked 1 and fanned 14. That's pretty nice.
Montgomery @ Tennessee suspended.
Tampa Yankees 4 @ Daytona Cubs 5
Pretty solid day for the youngsters. Zeke DeVoss had 2 strikeouts but 3 singles. Elliot Soto was hitless but walked twice. Wes Darvill, batting cleanup, went 2-4 with a walk and a run scored. Anthony Giansanti went 3-5 with a pair of RBI. Bijan Rademacher doubled. Taiwan Easterling went 1-3 with a walk and a solo shot.
Corey Black, newly acquired from the Yankees, went 5 scoreless innings. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks, fanning 4. Austin Reed allowed a single unearned run in 3 innings, and Armando Rivero was very shaky in the 9th, allowing a trio of runs (one earned) in the frame.
Cedar Rapids Kernels 8 @ Kane County Cougars 4
Both Oliver Zapata and Dan Vogelbach walked three times this game. Vogelbach also singled. Giuseppe Papaccio, in the 2 hole, doubled and walked. He also committed a pair of errors. Jeimer Candelario singled and walked, as did Willson Contreras. Rock Shoulders, Marco Hernandez, and Reggie Golden each had a pair of hits; Golden had a double.
Tayler Scott too the mound and it wasn't too good. He allowed 6 runs in 5 innings (3 earned), and walked 2 while giving up 6 hits. Both Justin Amlung and Nathan Dorris gave up an unearned run in 2 innings.
Vancouver Canadians 1 @ Boise Hawks 3
Danny Lockhart tripled and Rony Rodriguez doubled. Those were the only extra-base hits. Kris Bryant and Yasiel Balaguert both singled twice.
Jose Rosario went 5 innings allowed an unearned run (Kris Bryant's second fielding error). Jose Arias and Tyler Bremer went 3 and 1 innings of scoreless ball, respectively.
Vancouver Canadians 6 @ Boise Hawks 5
Oh hey, Kris Bryant was a HR shy of the cycle. Why is he still in Boise? Justin Marra finally had a nice night, going 2-5 with a doubled. Trevor Gretzky had 3 hits.

As long as we’re experimenting with retro, old school themes for the site, how about this one?

I’m trying to convince dmick to go to an ASCII template, but he’s not budging.

I really hope their mascot is an ear of corn dressed in a white suit, drinking a mint julep (dying laughing).

Actually he’d be all over that. I remember discussing trying to get an all Courier font on a plain white background on ACB.

I like the new format. It’s…crisp.

This new site is kinda like a new pair of underwear. At first it’s constrictive, but after awhile it becomes a part of you.

This old theme may be cleaned up now. We’ll see.
We are going to have to get a new one, though. It would just be nice if we had some time to make necessary edits before it’s live.

How often do 26-yo players with the potential to be MVP-caliber come on the FA market?

This. Move Rizzo to left or something if you have to. If the range is Good Ryan Howard to Miguel Cabrera? Sign the dude and figure it out later.

@ sitrick:
Right. There are people Rizzo can and should be blocking or prevent you from signing. Abreu is definitely NOT one of them.
Worst-case, you try to reverse the Rizzo trade of a couple years ago and get a pitcher or pitching prospect in return for him. He has a reasonably contract, so you could probably get something decent in return.
