Iowa Cubs 3 @ Nashville Sounds 2 (10 innings)
Mike Olt takes a step forward and 3 steps back. 0-3, BB. Greg Rohan launched a solo bomb in the 10th for the win.
Justin Grimm was very good. He allowed 5 hits and 3 walks over 6 1-run innings. He also fanned 6. Zach Rosscup continues to be unscored upon in Iowa, with his 9th consecutive scoreless appearance. Brian Schlitter allowed a single run in the 8th, and Marcus Hatley pitched 2 scoreless frames for the win.
Tennessee Smokies 4 @ Chattanooga Lookouts 3
I don't want to nitpick, but Baez hasn't been that great over the past 10. Sure, he's .263/.286/.605, but he has 12 SO and 2 BB in 40 PA. Baez went 2-4 with a double and a homer. Brett Jackson led off (must have been an accident), and he doubled and singled. Arismendy Alcantara also doubled and singled, but he added a walk too.
Dae-Eun Rhee was not great. He allowed 3 runs in 4 frames. Matt Loosen was the winner with 4 no-hit innings. Tony Zych notched a save with a scoreless ninth.
Brevard County Manatees 4 @ Daytona Cubs 7
Daytona is NEVER LOSING AGAIN. Dan Vogelbach had double singles and a walk. Kris Bryant thought that was cute, and doubled, tripled, and walked instead. Vogelbryant is coming to a Southern League near you. Dustin Geiger also had 2 hits. Chadd Krist doubled and singled also. Daytona as a team walked 6 times and struck out 7 times. What a good team.

Peoria Chiefs 2 @ Kane County Cougars 11
Kind of awesome; the Cougars only had 2 doubles for extra-base hits, but scored 11 anyway. Rock Shoulders led the way with a 3-4, 2B, BB day. He did commit his 6th error, though. Marco Hernandez was 2-5 with 2 SB. Both Brad Zapenas and Jeimer Candelario went 1-3, 2 BB, and 3 runs. Zapenas' hit was the other double.
Nathan Dorris pitched 5 innings of 1-run ball, and Justin Amlung pitched the other 3 with a single hit allowed.
Hillsboro Hops 14 @ Boise Hawks 3
Everyone on the Hops besides Randy McCurry had at least 2 hits. Jeez.
No remarkable performances here, besides Kevin Encarncion and his 2-run HR. He also walked.

A little bit of a lull for Baez for sure, but it just goes to show how incredible he has been. For many prospects we would be excited if they posted a .891 OPS over 10 games, especially at a level they were slightly young for.

Just think, kids…if the Cubs can sweep the Marlins, they match last year’s win total.
I know you’re still keen on the draft race, but ain’t no way the Cubs go 0-26 the rest of the way.

RC, this could all have been avoided if you would just start serving McNuggets before 11 am.
