OSS: Hendricks looks spotty, and the bullpen looks spottier.
Three Four Up
1. Addison Russell has really been turning it on lately, making the adjustments nicely. He had two doubles, and looked slick in the field. He added a walk, and his OPS is up to .792.
2. Anthony Rizzo is just incredible this season. He went 3-4 with a walk yesterday, making his line an obscene .333/.473/.552. His wRC+ is 184, good for 8th in the league among qualified batters. He’s at least 2 years younger than every player ahead of him right now.
3. Hey, at least Starlin Castro had 2 RBI yesterday (on a heads-up play by Kris Bryant and beating a double play). He went 1-5 and was a part of 2 double plays.
4. James Russell inherited a bases-loaded situation and stranded them all. Welcome back!
Three Down
1. Edwin Jackson came in the 6th and allowed 4 hits and recorded 2 outs. Not his finest hour.
2. Kyle Hendricks didn’t have his best command, and it bit him hard. While he did get 5 innings in of only 4 run ball, he was pretty lucky to do so.
3. As a team, the Cubs struck out 12 times and walked 2. That’s not a recipe for success.
