The Cubs’ divisional odds have slid all the way down to 86%? What in DeRosa’s name?

Cubs lose, even if they get rained out.

Cubs lose.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Markakis has already tied his home run total from last year (3)!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I remember when people were talking about Hammel as a possible All-Star candidate. That was, like, twenty home runs ago.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I remember when the Cubs used to make pitchers work. I thought it worked out pretty well.
dmick89Quote Reply
Is Tommy La Stella a wedding DJ or something? That’s the only thing I can think of when I hear his walk-up music.
uncle daveQuote Reply
I think I just heard Ron call Hammel “Haren.” Apropos.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Ugh. What did the Cubs do to upset the baseball gods?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
They were winning.
dmick89Quote Reply
Nevermind, I think he must have been referring to Harrell.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Are the Cubs trying to become the worst team ever compared to the 1927 Yankees?
dmick89Quote Reply
How hard is it to get a bunt down when you spend a sizable amount of time practicing it?
dmick89Quote Reply
Oh crap.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Welp, at least Warren is stretched out
berseliusQuote Reply
I take it Hammel is injured? I missed it.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
Yup.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
The injury was described as “cramping in his right hand.”
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Per the Cubs, he had cramps in his pitching hand
berseliusQuote Reply

berseliusQuote Reply
I hope the Cubs don’t have to play the Reds or Braves in the playoffs.
dmick89Quote Reply
Markakis hits a homer. Francoeur draws a walk. Harrell pitches shutout baseball. This game has everything.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
What happened to this team?
dmick89Quote Reply
Maybe getting the leadoff man on is an overrated strategy.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Yeah, I know, regression, slump, and all that other crap. (dying laughing)
dmick89Quote Reply
I miss when the Cubs used to score runs. That was fun.
The All Star Break and Fowler’s return have to help though, right? They have to be gassed playing this many games in a row, especially with all the injuries.
PerkinsQuote Reply
This game keeps finding new ways to be horrible.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Make ’em pay, Riz.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
And old ways.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Make ’em pay, Zo.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Wow. The Cubs won’t have any healthy players.

Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs…might not lose?
PerkinsQuote Reply
It could go either way
berseliusQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
A really small nuke would be a creative first in MLB.
dmick89Quote Reply
I’d like more runs.

It’d be hilarious to see Addy homer and play “screw the closer.”
PerkinsQuote Reply
Oh god.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply

Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Markakis doubles his season total.

Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs suck in 1 run games this year for some reason.

Francoeur walks twice. Markakis homers twice. What is going on here?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
The Cubs are going to need like five magicians tomorrow.

Goat magicians

Spencer Patton warming up. Must score now.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
The Cubs have become really good at blowing games quite late.
dmick89Quote Reply
Well, I see no reason to stay up to watch them lose. I’m going to bed. Later.
dmick89Quote Reply
They’re gonna lose this one without letting a ball leave the infield.
uncle daveQuote Reply
Or not.
uncle daveQuote Reply
And with that Addison Russell GIDP, a thousand sac bunts were born.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Unbelievable. Very few do more than Nick Markakis to not hit home runs. And somehow the Cubs give up two to him. Smh.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
This fucking bullshit is never going to end. I didn’t sign up to watch the 2014 A’s this year.
uncle daveQuote Reply
Maybe we can get Jeff Samardzija for Addison Russell.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Smokestack Lightning,
It might just work.

I think they win Saturday’s game and lose on Sunday. I also think that between Arrieta and Liriano, 10 batters get walked tonight. So it could go either way.

No, not really. Shortstops tend to be favored over 2nd basemen. For good reason I think. Despite the awful start, Torres is having a great season and has improved on last year in the most important areas (walks, power). There’s a ton to like with Torres, but I think you could also easily make an argument that Happ is the top prospect in this system (assuming we exclude Contreras). The real question mark was how any of these people put Torres ahead of Contreras prior to this season. That was baffling.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
pretty sure BN luke was one of the only guys i saw who put contreras at #1 so good call by luke
SK,
the best part is the guy in the lower left who is not even remotely concerned
EnricoPallazzoQuote Reply
I’m not sure many people really grasped what was possibly happening with Contreras. The Cubs left him unprotected in the Rule 5 before his breakout so they certainly had no clue either, but after last year, he was easily a top 10 prospect in my opinion. You’ve got a catcher who by all accounts was average to better than that behind the plate and potentially a great hitter. There aren’t many great hitting catchers and there are even fewer of them who can also field the position well enough to not be a liability. There was still a lot that could go wrong, but as far as potential goes, which is what all these lists are about, Contreras had as much as almost any prospect entering this season.
