Strikes, please.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs have been giving Melky the Harper treatment this series.
JonKneeVQuote Reply
Here comes the double play.
dmick89Quote Reply
What in fucks name is Montero doing batting 5th?
JonKneeVQuote Reply
Dylan Bundy doing something in Baltimore.
EDIT: Nevermind.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Damn replay review. He’s going to be safe.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs aren’t going to score until the 9th tonight.
dmick89Quote Reply
Hard out for Heyward.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Has anyone ever mentioned that Baez swings a lot?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
He probably goes down to the cages in between plate appearances.
dmick89Quote Reply
If Hammel can’t hold them to -1 run today, we’re going to lose.
uncle daveQuote Reply
This offense sucks ass half the time. Wish they’d have gone after an impact bat over a closer.
dmick89Quote Reply
uncle dave,
Are you sure that’s good enough?
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
It could go either way.
uncle daveQuote Reply
Hits, please.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Are you kidding me?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs lose.
PerkinsQuote Reply
I feel bad for Hammel. He could have had a perfect game through nine and he still had no chance of winning this game.
dmick89Quote Reply
Mets just pulled ahead of the Cardinals.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Pirates will be 7 out and the Cardinals just fell behind 4-3. So either 6.5 or 5.5 out.
dmick89Quote Reply
I miss the days when the opposing starter’s ERA would be a couple runs higher after the game, instead of lower.
Rich HardenQuote Reply
The Cubs have no hits against a AAA starter.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Holy shit, Heyward grounded out. Wasn’t expecting that.
PerkinsQuote Reply
It would be nice if KB could hit for some power again.
dmick89Quote Reply
Bryant!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Bryant!
PerkinsQuote Reply
dmick89,
(dying laughing) thanks.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
Now do that for Rizzo.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Do we see our new look bullpen now? Strop coming on in the 7th, I hope.
dmick89Quote Reply
It would be nice if BZ could hit for some power again.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
dmick89,
Joe might wait for the lead that may never come before using the big guns.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Nice outing by Hammel, even if he did give up that homer to the opposing pitcher.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
We’ll probably see Wood in the 8th then.
dmick89Quote Reply
Familia blew the save. He’s dead to me.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Ugh. And the game tying hit was by neck tat.
PerkinsQuote Reply
And the Cardinals pulled ahead and now I hate everything.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Familia has more multi-run outings today than Rondon has had all year.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Baez!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
JAVYBOMB!
PerkinsQuote Reply
Baez!!!
dmick89Quote Reply
Crushed. Baez. Thanks Peanut based god.
umbraQuote Reply
What do Nate Silver and Javier Baez have in common? Both crushed that 538.
Tip your waitresses
MylesQuote Reply
And if he could still throw that curve. Gosh I love Barry Zito.
umbraQuote Reply
Don’t tell me what to do.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Rondon is like the 5th best reliever in baseball and 2nd best on the team.
Myles HandleyQuote Reply
I love quick innings like that.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
I prefer strikeouts, but I’ll take it.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
This is where the Cubs usually screw the closer.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
You think it’s still April?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
But yes, screw the closer. Please.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs looking to introduce Chapman to “screw the closer.”
PerkinsQuote Reply
Chapman will probably pitch tonight, but it’s not likely going to be in a save situation.
dmick89Quote Reply
Screw the closer!
PerkinsQuote Reply
Addy!!!
dmick89Quote Reply
It’s a good, old-fashioned closer-screwing. By gar, it’s been a while.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I’m kind of happy that Chapman gets his first appearance out of the way in a low leverage spot.
dmick89Quote Reply
I’m pretty much of the opinion that if he’s given any kind of lead, it’s automatically a low leverage spot.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Smokestack Lightning,
True.
dmick89Quote Reply
That game was fun. Except for the first 5.5 innings.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Cubs are the first team to 60 wins.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Only hit 103mph twice.
Dear Chapman,
Just because it’s not a save situation doesn’t mean you can slack off. It’s almost like you were raised a communist.
ceruleanQuote Reply
I know nobody around here wants a Chapman extension for a handful of reasons, perhaps one or two of them even baseball-related, but I have to say after watching this one inning, I can envision a scenario where I could be okay with it.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Smokestack Lightning,
I’ve always enjoyed watching him pitch. I enjoy it even more when it helps the Cubs. If I go to hell for that, so be it.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
That’s not true. I was going to write about a possible extension, but I chose to wait for any of the non-baseball emotions that I might have to die down. I can’t say for sure without looking more into it, but I think I come down on the side of trying to extend him.
dmick89Quote Reply
The Cubs scored 8 runs on 6 hits.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I was thinking more of all-of-Cubdom when I meant “around here,” but that’s my bad not being clear. I’m simultaneously lurking on BN.
