Cubs 7, A’s 2 (8.5.16)

OSS: Cubs cruise to an easy win

Three up:

1. Despite having an epically crappy rehab stint in the minors, Jorge Soler hit a three run homer in his first PA back with the team. In true Soler style, the ball was hit about 5000 mph and went over the fence despite seeming to have a peak height of about 20 feet.
2. Dexter Fowler also homered, a leadoff shot that was also a no doubter. The Cubs were all over the clearly overmatched Dillon Overton in his three innings of work, and while it didn’t matter for Soler and Dex’s hits, his defense didn’t do him any favors.
3. Javy Baez played 3B with Bryant in LF for what seems like the first time in months. This is the reason why I wish we saw this alignment more often:
   

Three down:

1. It’s strange to think we’re already at this point considering how bad the Cubs looked at times during their slump, but people were complaining that the Cubs scored ‘only’ seven runs in this game. And they probably weren’t wrong either. You have to love when a team is clicking so much that seven runs feels like a disappointment (dying laughing).
2. I’ve got no one specific to complain about on the Cubs, so I’ll just crack on the A’s pitchers’ names. *extremely math/physics nerd voice* After they trotted out Trigg and Coulombe I was disappointed that they brought out Rczepehdszaski rather than have Maxwell, the catcher pitch.
3. It was also a huge missed opportunity on my part to not make an Overton Window joke in my preview for this game.
