The title is more of a play on words suggesting that a few of the Cubs’ top performers are on the shelf in one way or another, but yet they soldier on! We put a wrap on the whole Shohei saga, talk about mostly the poor (but oddly acceptable) result of the Miami series, what to do with Kyle Hendricks, and more.

I’ve been wanting to use that title for a while, and although the team isn’t exactly self-destructing, losing a lot of key guys in a short span is never fun and the fact that they’re still one of the best teams in MLB is kind of miraculous.

31%K rate.
If Mervis doesn’t work out, they can send him back and bring David Peralta up.
Latest rumor is possibly 2 P on the DL, which comports to David Patton epidemic.
Maybe Smyly to DL. He was favoring something last weekend…knee, ankle, hammy…

Maybe we can trade him for a flier on a A ball pitcher or something like international FA $$$

BVS,
Yeah, through 41 PAs. Still a 115 OPS+ and .341 OBP. That K rate is going to be around 27% , definitely nothing that surprised or disappointed thus far. It seems like they are confident enough in Busch to play him and Mervis (DH) against righties and keep easing him into more at bats against lefties to see how he does. Iβm sure Wisdom will get some starts at 1B as well, but Cooper must have just been a safety net for if Busch needed to get sent down. He had to be pretty much βmeets expectationsβ in the limited opportunity he got.

Iβm doubling down on the Cyle Closer project. They can test him out of the bullpen in his βrehabβ stint in AAA.
