    I’ve been wanting to use that title for a while, and although the team isn’t exactly self-destructing, losing a lot of key guys in a short span is never fun and the fact that they’re still one of the best teams in MLB is kind of miraculous.

    Cubs center fielder Cody Bellinger said Jordan Montgomery’s decision to leave Scott Boras for the Wasserman Media Group led to him getting numerous calls from other agents trying to recruit him.

    Bellinger, who could opt out of his three-year, $80 million deal at the end of the season, said he intends to stay with Boras.

    β€œI’ve definitely gotten blown up. But I’ve confirmed multiple times that I’m definitely not leaving,” Bellinger said. β€œI’ve told Scott that. I had nothing but positive experiences through the whole process.”

    BVS,

    Yeah, through 41 PAs. Still a 115 OPS+ and .341 OBP. That K rate is going to be around 27% , definitely nothing that surprised or disappointed thus far. It seems like they are confident enough in Busch to play him and Mervis (DH) against righties and keep easing him into more at bats against lefties to see how he does. I’m sure Wisdom will get some starts at 1B as well, but Cooper must have just been a safety net for if Busch needed to get sent down. He had to be pretty much β€œmeets expectations” in the limited opportunity he got.
