Iowa

Josh Vitters hit his first HR of the year and got a pair of RBI's for his effort. On the pitching side Frank Batista has been promoted and was stuck with the loss in relief.

Smokies

Trey McNutt got the start and was lit up giving up 5 R (2 ER) in 2.2 IP. I watched McNutt on milbtv and his fastball is still there but last night his big breaking pitch wasn't tight at all. It was a big looping slurve type pitch that he didn't control all that well which lead to one too many fastballs. Jae Hoon Ha went 2-5 and Justin Bour hit his 3rd HR of the year for the offense.

Daytona

Hayden Simpson got the W! And he didn't suck! Simpson followed the starter and worked 4 scoreless innings the last of which was punctuated by striking out the side. He gave up 1 hit and walked nobody. Word is that he touched 89 working out of the pen so he isn't back yet in terms of velocity but at this point we will take any kind of good news from him. Rubi Silva hit his first HR of the year and Matt Szzrzrzrzr stole his 14th base.

Peoria

Pin Chien Chen went 3-3 and stole his 4th bag of the year. Chen is off to a good start but hasn't flashed much power as of yet. He played 2B last year as I recall but was starting in LF last night. Jeff Lorick picked up his 3rd save of the year.

  1. That’s nothing. Tony Campana stole 14 bases in a single game. And scored twice on the same fly ball before it landed.

  2. @ Berselius:
To be fair, Spidey was more of an Avengers reserve than a main Avenger.

More nerditude…I’m sure most of you have heard about this but this is the first time I’ve actually seen the license (dying laughing)

  3. Silva needs to be at AA.
all the High BA guy/low BB guys from last year like Ha and Silva have all shown increased patience this year. I have only an inkling of how these things work, but would a guy like Ha who seemed to be an early count fastball hitter lose power by being more patient since he wouldn’t be swinging at early count fastballs??

  4. So I hear the Yankees will be looking for a new reliever. Maybe they’d be interested in Marmol (dying laughing)
