  1. Have you ever considered giving “Smart Guy” a fountain drink instead of a beer? He must be parched after all these musings without a beverage.

Also, Beer Guy should probably be dead or in need of a liver transplant.

  2. @ Rice Cube:
I’m sure Josh is saving the cloudy or hazy night for a particularly funny comic.

    @ Mercurial Outfielder:
Because of “copter” I had to look this up. Here’s the first Urban Dictionary definition, which made me laugh even more.

ROTFL + helicopter. Sometimes used humorously for real.

honestly, I only got the word because Gould is from my area. It could be total nonsense.

he’s been a little too right on about some things, while other things are obviously false. at this point, i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s hacked into a bunch of other guys’ twitter accounts and is putting up rumors minutes before they can.

He and Bud Selig have been at the center of every single labor problem MLB has had for the last 30 years.

  9. THe really shitty thing about those statements from Reinsdorf is that they expose an important fact: he doesn’t want to invest the money in his own team to bring the org and farm into the 21st century, so he’s jsut going to use his influence with the Commish to handicap the aggressively progressive sides.

  10. Commenting on the discussion yesterday about how there are no assholes here… I love this place. I think it has to do with the size of the community. If someone comes here asking a question about anything really, there are plenty of knowledgeable people to give an answer. And because of the size, there aren’t many people asking the questions. What I mean is if there were new people coming in every day asking the same questions, it would get frustrating to those who answer which would cause the mood to go down, especially since the team sucks.

I imagine mb, B, 424, and AC woudl like more visits but I like it here better than anywhere else. Other blogs that I visited when they got too big (Second City Hockey for instance) kind of lost something. I don’t know. Just my 2 cents.

That’s true. One reason it seems to stay civil is that people tend to return over and over. You get used to seeing the same user name and so you even start thinking about that little blue bear as a real person.

  12. WaLi seems to be saying he loves this place because it’s a piece of shit. I can’t argue with him today.

Reinsdorph said he’d contract two teams. Interesting. I can’t say I disagree with that too much. Certainly a team like Tampa that draws only 9,000 people to a game despite being a winning team has some fanbase issues. Pittsburgh, KC, Oakland could also go.

But to me the issue is that baseball doesn’t have teams in the right places. Tampa should be in Brooklyn. NYC really should have 3 teams. The market can easily handle it. Oakland should move too, and everyone knows it, but SF is standing in the way.
