Cubs personnel are disappointed that Alfonso Soriano won’t waive his 10-and-5 rights to go to the Giants. The outfielder doesn't want to play in a colder climate that could adversely affect his hitting.
If this is true, why can't the Cubs just shut up about it? Sure, they'd probably try to trade him, but what fucking good does it do to leak out that you're upset over it? It makes them look like a bunch of fucking crybabies.
Do we have to hate Soriano now too? Before long the only player we'll like will be Darwin Barney and Luis Valbuena. Can't wait for that day.

I feel like the front office has the right to be upset and Soriano also has the right to turn it down. I’m nowhere near as frustrated with him as I was with Demps. Soriano didn’t flip-flop, we knew right off the bat what his feelings on San Fran were. Also, his reasons for not wanting to go there are legitimate. Playing in Wrigley certainly is better for his power numbers than San Francisco. On the other hand, he’ll never be able to truly compete to win in Chicago. As Dempster has taught us, sometimes the best option is right in front of you.

I’m not the least bit mad at Dempster and I don’t believe the organization has any right to leak that they’re upset that a player used his no-trade clause to veto and/or say he won’t be traded to a certain city. That’s part of the game and the Cubs front office is coming off as a bunch of crybabies over this. It’s their decision and not mine to judge.
Based on what Theo said, Dempster made it very clear he wanted the Dodgers and wouldn’t go anywhere else until the last minute. Demspter made his wishes as clear as Soriano has. People have just reached conclusions they want to reach because they feel better about themselves for no longer liking him.

I feel perfectly content, because I always hated Dempster and I love Soriano. (dying laughing)

Also, I’m willing to bet Theo doesn’t give a fat friar’s fart about Soriano doing this, because no matter what deal the Cubs make, they won’t get shit in return, they’ll be paying Soriano’s salary whether he goes or stays, and he’s not blocking any youngsters. So count me as a guy who considers this to be a complete fabrication.

@ Mercurial Outfielder:
I’ll take that bet. They wanted Zambrano gone and had to pay his entire salary. This team is rebuilding. They don’t want any player on the team like Soriano, Zambrano and Dempster. They worked hard to trade Soriano prior to the season and throughout it while offering to pay almost the entire contract. If they didn’t care they’d not have wasted as much time as they did.
As for liking Soriano, he’s not good enough for me to care about at this point. I don’t like it when fans attack him, but that’s true of any player. I’ve wanted Soriano gone since about midway through the 2009 season and it seems like the last 3 years have taken about 300. In my mind, Soriano is 340 years old. He doesn’t look much younger than that either. (dying laughing)
I admire him for how hard he plays and for playing through the pain, but at the same time I just wish he’d quit. I’d rather watch Tony Campana or Dave Sappelt in LF than Soriano.

The baseball players union is absolutely way too strong. It’s ridiculous what they get away with. If baseball went on strike, I certainly wouldn’t miss it. Honestly the Cubs should just cut Sorianno, they aren’t going to get shit for him anyway.
