Nice curveball.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
That was efficient.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Ron Coomer being effusive about Tim McCarver makes me wish I was watching this game on TV.
uncle daveQuote Reply
That’ll do, Rizzo.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
The fucking corpse of Brandon Moss is killin’ us.
uncle daveQuote Reply
That lead didn’t last long.
dmick89Quote Reply
I hope Waino continues to miss his spots like this.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
I hope the Cubs take advantage.
dmick89Quote Reply
That’s two caught looking strikeouts for Russell in two days on really good pitches to hit.
dmick89Quote Reply
JD just mentioned tootblan. (dying laughing)

Second Half Hammel

Cubs lose.

uncle dave,
He’s getting an early start on it this year.

This series sucks.

Nice to get an out for a change.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Wouldn’t mind seeing Heyward stick it in and break it off tonite.

always good to be proactive.

OK, can we scratch out more than one run this time?
uncle daveQuote Reply
Joe isn’t going to pinch-hit for Hammel, is he?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Guess not.
uncle daveQuote Reply
Well, I guess it doesn’t matter much now.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
That was awful music.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Concepcion!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
When was the last time Clayton Richard struck out a lefty?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Immaculate!
ceruleanQuote Reply
Two GIDPs already for Willson. Bust.

Answer to my own rhetorical question: May 5 (Daniel Murphy)
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Will Concepcion get his first career plate appearance tonight?
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
You have to save your bench when half your roster is relievers.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Plus, you don’t want to use your backup catcher and risk having to use your backup backup catcher.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
The Cubs are trying to blow another good opportunity in this series.
dmick89Quote Reply
I love how the Cardinals are bringing in Broxton to face a lefty with the tying run on third. Smart bullpen management.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Now Broxton gets to face another lefty.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
That was unfortunate.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Blech.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Bryzzobrist. Get it done.
ceruleanQuote Reply
(dying laughing). Now Matheney brings in a southpaw. With Bryant at bat.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Ugh.

Travis pop-ups the side. He’s been pretty good.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Please be bad Rosenthal.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Come on, Javier.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
1-run games are the Cubs’ kryptonite.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
So many missed scoring opportunities. Oh well.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
yeah, they wasted too many good opportunities. Could easily be 2-0 this series, but the Cubs have been lucky throughout the year so I guess some bad luck is due.
dmick89Quote Reply
Run differential tells a different story.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Fucking cardinals
joshQuote Reply
Aren’t they supposed to be celibate?
ceruleanQuote Reply
I didn’t mean lucky in terms of record. I meant they’ve been lucky in that that’s no way they are actually as good as their record. Especially when you factor in the injuries. About 20% of their roster or more is guys from AA and AAA. They’re very good, but their true talent isn’t 110+ wins, especially the current roster.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
Their pitching has been lucky, but a portion of that is the great defense. The overperformance by some of the young guys is balanced by the underperformance of some of the other young guys and not so young guys. As I said before, they have been lucky that their injuries have been where they have the most depth. And despite that, there still is quite a bit in talent in the organization. And that I believe is how a team gets 110+ wins, by getting 130 games out of your best players and not having much of a dropoff in the other 32.
