OSS: Fuck, this team.
Three up:
- I don’t even know who to single out here, the Cubs are kicking ass and taking names from one of their main competitors for a playoff spot despite having three of their top position players out for injuries of varying severity. Tim fucking FedEx, the backup-backup-backup catcher was the top position player in WPA.
- Arrieta walked two batters to start the game, then simply mowed down the Pirates the rest of the way, posting five straight 1-2-3 innings before Cervelli singled with two outs in the seventh. He also drove in a run on a bases-clogged single in the second inning.
- Javy Baez is good at this whole defense thing.
Three down:
- Someone has to have a kind of lousy day I guess, and today that someone was Jorge Soler, who erased a leadoff single by Dex in the first with a double play ball, and struck out with the bases loaded to end the second inning before the Cubs had it salted away.
- The Pirates lone run was unearned, due to an error by Addison Russell.
- Since I have nothing else Cubs-related to complain about, how about that Reds bullpen, who have now given up a run in 21 consecutive games.
