He had 6 errors before this season.
It must be the pressure of having to hit. Or maybe the pressure of being the ace of the staff.
Outfield: Brett Jackson, Cubs Jackson, like Choice, is one of the better outfield prospects in the game, but the amount of swing-and-miss in his game has always kept him from elite status. After hitting just .256 at Double-A, a mid-July move to Triple-A has ignited a fire; he’s hitting .315/.391/.577 in 38 games for Iowa and is lining himself up for a September callup and a long look this spring. While 55 strikeouts in 149 at-bats leave the high average unsustainable, Jackson projects as a 20/20 center fielder with plus defense and one of the Cubs’ few upper-level prospects who projects as an important part of the team’s future.

Can someone put out a good reason why the Cubs pulled Peeeenyah back off of waivers? I can’t figure it out. Would losing him give Fielder too much leverage in offseason negotiations? Maybe they simply don’t have anyone else to play first because they think Bryan The Coif is simply Micah Hoffpauir 2.0? There must be a reason, but I’ll be damned if I know it could be.
Do you think he would be an improvement over Hendry?
Hard to say. He’s never had a big budget, and lately he’s had a harder time putting together contending teams. I’m sure he would like the opportunity to use his skills on a bigger market, but he’s not a proven success on the scale the Cubs are on. But I think its reasonable to assume that he knows what he’s doing and he would add the analytical tools that Hendry wasn’t as fond of.
Do you think he would be an improvement over Hendry?
I think in some ways he would, but I’d prefer the Cubs not sign him.
Plus, how difficult would it be to sign Beane anyway? He’s not only signed through 2014, he’s a part owner of the A’s. I’d be surprised if the Cubs went after him. They don’t have a lot of time to waste and that seems to be a situation in which you could waste a lot of time and come away with Ned Colletti as the GM. (dying laughing)

Better a first inning homerun than a 9th inning homerun?

They shouldn’t have given Soto anything even remotely hittable with Garza coming up.

Garza would have just bunted with only 1 out and given Castro a chance.

Of course there’s no guarantee you don’t bunt into a double play if they’re charging.
