I had that same problem with Carroll last night and fixed it. Then it did it again today. He’s the only player I’ve seen that happen with. I have him at .306 and that reduces the Dodgers total score by .1 run and improves the Cubs odds to 38.9%. Fuck yeah! (dying laughing)

So if Z goes tomorrow, they have an off-day on Thursday. Garza Friday, Coleman Saturday, then Demp on normal rest on Sunday. Another off day on Monday. That means the fifth starter option needs to pitch next Thursday, whoever that is.

What the hell happened to the Cubs hitters of 2008 with respect to taking pitches? Who, in this day and age of baseball, can possibly think that their extreme aggressiveness in swinging the bats at anything that moves is a good idea?

I turned on Comcast to hear Hawk call the end of the Twins no hitter vs the Sox. I wanted to hear the pain and disappointment in his voice but he was off tonight. Damn. A Mike Huff was doing pbp but the massive ego of the FPM jumped in and called the last out. Stone is sick and his voice sounds awful but he had to call it, what a dick.

If you swing at every pitch, you’re not likely to go down looking – more likely to hit a weak, shitty chopper in the infield. Seems like every other AB results in one of those.

    Let’s try that again…

    http://mlb.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=chc

    So…

    Wednesday Z
    Thursday Off day
    Friday Garza
    Saturday Coleman
    Sunday Dempster (normal rest)
    Monday Off day
    Tuesday Z
    Wednesday Garza
    Thursday Coleman
    Friday Dempster (normal rest)
    Saturday Need #5 guy today

Unless they start everyone on short rest starting Saturday. That’s not bad, a week and a half that they don’t need the #5 starter so guys like Wellemeyer and Doug Davis have a chance to stretch out.

It’s seriously uncanny. I doubt very seriously that there is anyone in baseball history with this kind of consistent pattern of production. I mean, I know there are slow starters (Sandberg was notorious for being crappy in April, for example), but who else always starts hot and then peters out for 3/4 of the season?

I think it would be kinda fun if the Cubs lost 130 games this year. I’d rather see historic awfulness than complete mediocrity – I just don’t give a shit if they manage to win 77 games. Big fucking deal. However, if they were to head into September with a chance to set a new mark for futility, I think that I would be very interested in watching the games…

    Correct.

    Aftermath
The Robisons’ decision to essentially reduce the Spiders to minor league standards, along with other intra-league raiding such as that conducted by the Dodgers, unwittingly helped pave the way to the National League’s loss of its major league monopoly. The 12th-place Spiders were one of four teams contracted out of the National League at the end of the 1899 season. The others were the 11th-place Senators, the ninth-place Louisville Colonels and, surprisingly, the fourth-place Baltimore Orioles.
The Robisons sold the assets of the Spiders team to Charles Somers and John Kilfoyle in 1900.[2] In 1900, the then-minor Western League fielded a team called the Cleveland Lake Shores, and in 1901, after renaming itself the American League, the team became a new Cleveland Blues team, and eventually the Cleveland Indians.

Rendon is the top player. I guess some teams are concerned about his injury. Personally, I don’t give a fuck.

The value this year is in college picks. Every team before CHC could pick a college player and there would still be a good value pick at No. 9. I like Dylan Bundy over several college arms, but I’m hoping he goes to college.
