Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist are each 2-3 against Eickhoff, but there's not much of a sample there or for any of the Cubs against this guy.

CubsvsEickhoff

There isn't much of a sample for Hendricks against these Phillies batters either. Galvis is 2-3 with a double and a hit by pitch. Herrera is 2-6 with a double and a walk. That's about it.

PhilliesvsHendricks

Will the Cubs win? Yes, but it could go either way.

538 Forecast: 65% chance of winning

This has probably been done, but…

iCough—the newest in Apple’s line of fitness and health devices—get physical without getting manhandled.

Do the Cubs realize they’re facing Jared Eickhoff?

I’m pretty sure it’s 2011 and they are facing one of Halladay, Hamels, or Lee.

    See, Howard just went yard.

I am so tired of the what’s-it-called energy commercial and their really shitty understanding of basic economics. Maybe the reason only one store sells apples is because they are really shitty apples and nobody carries them because they do not sell. And deregulation often raises prices to consumers. Such bullshit logic.

Cubs hitters are apparently not wanting to get into the bullpen tonight. Not a very Cubs-like performance from the offense tonight.

agreed but it’s still one of the least annoying commercials playing during these games. evrey time i hear “hi staples guy”, i get a little bit closer to losing my shit and lighting a bunch of cars on fire.

102 mph groundball is not a success, IMO. All Richard does is serve up meatballs on a plate of spaghetti.

hey he’s just been getting screwed by the fact that he’s been getting some really bad calls from the umps and also because he can’t pitch for shit.

    cerulean,

I’m more interested in what the defensive arrange would have been had they scored. The only position player on the bench was Federowicz. Can he play third?

    Rizzo the Rat,

Maybe he’s the answer to their desire for a catcher every day. Call up Contreras, and pair he and Wood and the rest with a starter.

Bonus, have a wheel of catchers to spin to go along with the wheel of relievers Joe uses.

    SK,

If he were to hit really well over the next month and a half as a regular, yeah, but I don’t see how using him in a backup role can do anything other than decrease his value. I don’t think it will actually decrease his value since it doesn’t sound like he’ll get enough playing time for that to happen. you never know with trade value since it’s so subjective, but I’d say about the only way his value changes much is if he hits really, really well in a somewhat regular role (a fairly balanced number of PA against lefties and righties), along with his expected stellar defense. I think even in a regular role were he to hit very poorly, his trade value would remain mostly the same.
