I don’t like this game so far.

Wow, Cubs are up 10–0!
*looks closer*
Fuck.

Nine more of those and we’ll have a ball game. Though on second thought 15 runs might not win the game.

Cubs get stoned in Colorado Rockies score ten

Addison!

Those Russell homeruns were absolutely scalded. Zastryzny has been pretty awesome. But most impressive: Patton actually struck somebody out.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Is Maddon just assigning players to random positions now?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Wouldn’t be a bad idea if Joe wanted to give guys something to laugh about after the game

Why did Zobrist try to stretch that hit to a double when they’re down eight runs?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo tags up and scores for no reason.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I’m not watching, but how did Zobrist make an out on the bases in the 9th inning down a million runs? Just trying to get it over?
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
He tried to stretch a single to a double for some reason.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I know Maddon likes aggressiveness, but there are times when you just need baserunners and there’s no advantage to grabbing an extra base or two.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
He doesn’t want to get in the way of greatness.
dmick89Quote Reply
The ridiculous thing is, if he stays at first, he can probably take second on defensive indifference (unless the defense is stupid enough to hold him on, in which case they open up a hole in the infield). Plays like this don’t matter much in a total blowout, but I hope Cubs runners are smarter when there’s a more realistic chance of a comeback (say, a 3-4 run deficit).

Welp, Coors giveth and Coors taketh away.
Just be glad we don’t have to play 81 games here like those poor bastards on the Colorado side. Forever doomed to 75-80 win seasons. Or worse.

Looks like I made the right decision to skip the game and get home by dinnertime.

This is all your fault.

No dinner for you. Um, tomorrow.

I was called an SJW on twitter. Is that a social justice warrior? Because normally I think of myself being more of a social justice mage class, but that’s just me.

Rizzo the Rat,
The Cubs seem to be a good overall base running team, but they also seem to make more than their fair share of boneheaded decisions. Russell has made at least a couple that I can remember, but overall I think of him as a good base runner. Zobrist’s decision was beyond stupid. It was almost like he was just trying to get the game over some could get to San Diego.

If Rob Zastryzny turns into a successful big league pitcher, I quit.

Just stay away from those social justice bards

Cubs face Edwin Jackson. I actually hope Jackson destroys the Cubs, because it would be a great Fuck You to all the jerk Cubs fans.

Edwin,
Yeah, I don’t. I hope he pitches well otherwise, but I hope the Cubs win tonight.

I might have time to get one ready.

Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
dmick89,
Yeah, it would be pretty embarrassing if the Cubs can’t do any damage against him tonight. Not quite James Shields-level embarrassing, but still…
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I just think it’s cool if a player’s basically being paid to shut down the team he’s pitching against.

My copy of Tommy Lasorda Baseball for the Sega Genesis begs to differ. Do you have a video game franchise, Mr. Delicate Genius?
