The Cubs' are really running a daunting lineup out there for their game against the Phillies today.
- Campana CF
- Barney 2B
- Castro SS
- LaHair 1B
- Baker RF
- Stewart 3B
- Mather LF
- Castillo C
- Garza P
Meanwhile, the Iowa Cubs' lineup today against Nashville is:
- B. Jackson CF
- Amezaga RF
- Valbuena SS
- Rizzo 1B
- Wright LF
- Cardenas 2B
- Vitters 3B
- Apodaca C
- J. Jackson P
Is it me, or is the Iowa lineup more imposing?
I might have just taken the largest shit of my life.

That’s the weakest offensive outfield I’ve ever seen.

Garza is kicking ass today.

It doesn’t matter today as the Phillies are worse (dying laughing)

@ Rice Cube:
You gotta give credit to Garza here. And to scrappy Campy.

And Pence.

MLBTR says the Reds signed Koyie Hill.

So how are the iCubs doing? Because the Cubs are kicking ass.
joshQuote Reply
So, Campana has 30 career steals vs. 2 times caught stealing.

Castro, on the other hand, is 42 and 20. Not good.

Pirates/Braves game:
(Color announcer draws a hashtag-like symbol on the screen during a replay to show how outfielder’s gloves are webbed so you can still see through them; has difficulty describing said shape)
Chip Caray: Dave, if you were on the Twitter universe, you would know that’s referred to as a “hashtag.”
Dave: (off camera) Hey Chip, what do you call this?
(silence)

Marmol needed 9 pitches to get to strike 1.
joshQuote Reply
@ ACT:
Castro seems like he’s improved in that department though. I think he could be a legitimate baserunning threat in another year or so.
joshQuote Reply
With each passing day, I lose confidence in Marmol.
ACTQuote Reply
@ ACT:
Agreed. He’s always walked the razor’s edge. But he used to get a lot of swinging strikes, but doesn’t anymore. He’s not close enough to the zone.

Moyer has 5 strikeouts through 3. Also, 9 hits.

All or nothing!
On that grounder to the middle, was Castro late getting to the bag or did Barney basically have no play anyway?
Rice CubeQuote Reply
I know we are only 8-14, but dammit this past week has really made this guy creep into my thoughts again.

Great start by Garza today. I forgot about the hit in the first inning and was holding out hope for a no-hitter for about 4-5 innings of that game (dying laughing)
BerseliusQuote Reply
@ WaLi:
Yeah, that’s pretty much how it works.

I went to the Cubs Phillies game today. Really enjoyed getting to see Garza dominate. Phillies fans got short of patience as he proceeded. I hate to admit, but I’m actually kind of intrigued by the Campana led, scrappy, small ball approach to offense. I liked the Cubs aggressiveness, even when they get thrown out. Wellington Castillo looked good on defense today, and bad on offense.
Recalcitrant Blogger NateQuote Reply
That first hit really should have been caught. Baker got an awful jump, and I think a better RF, like say DeJesus would have gotten there. Barney covered a ton of ground on that play.
Recalcitrant Blogger NateQuote Reply
That might have been the best stuff I’ve ever seen from Garza. Everything was working today.
BerseliusQuote Reply
Great. ESPN is showing the Yu Darvish Show tomorrow. I’ll probably divide my attention between that and the Cubs’ attempt to win the series against a team that one 100 games last year.

WRT Matt Garza, I saw about half of his no-hitter, so I’ll just say this is the second-best start I’ve seen from him.

Cowley has been a sexist pig for some time now. He’s a Steelers fan and when Rapelisberger’s incident in Atlanta happened, he tweeted, “At least he likes women.”

My best guess is that he’ll be suspended for a week. Short of firing him the best thing they can do is just get him off twitter. The dude is a professional troll.

The difference between this and Mariotti is that Mariotti’s douchebaggery was in the actual newspaper and it generated people reading it “to see what he’d say next.” Cowley pulled this shit on Twitter where it isn’t drawing people into the website AND it’s probably solidifying those who already weren’t going there to ever go there again. I could very easily see him on the unemployment line soon. There is literally no reason to keep him. Nobody reads that paper because Joe Cowley works there and there are now a shit ton of people who won’t read it while he still works there.
