Buster Olney is keeping tabs on the persistent logjam in the Arizona outfield. He has posted a few interesting tidbits via twitter today.
Folks involved in this process believe that the D-Backs want to make a decision on trading Kubel or Upton by Friday.

D-Backs talks with the Braves about JUpton have resumed; ATL said to be in hard on this. They're likely the frontrunner, if JUpton is dealt.

The Diamondbacks have been reviewing the Braves' offer for Upton; some folks involved feel like it's a strong offer.

The Braves currently have Heyward in right and Prado in left (with BJ in center, incidentally). They are likely penciling Prado in at second, or perhaps even third should this deal go through.
I still wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs make a run, but we haven't heard anything about that lately.

Didn’t the Dbacks want Castro?

they have since signed cliff pennington and traded for a marginal minor league ss, so they are probably looking to fill other needs now

Yeah, but clearly the Dbacks are wanting something really good in return and I don’t know what else the Cubs have to offer. Jorge Soler comes to mind, but I don’t see the Cubs trading him. I’d have no issues trading Baez for someone like Upton, but I also don’t see that.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cubs jump in and make a late run either. I just think they’re going to protect what they have so I don’t see a trade happening with the Cubs. Hope I’m wrong.

I’d be willing to trade Castro, except I have his shirt and a couple of bobbleheads.
