  1. Agreed on all counts, DJ. Baez seems to be a guy who has enough plate discipline problems that it should keep him from an A. Overall though, he’s definitely a good prospect and the fact he’s remained at SS could create an interesting situation in Chicago in a couple years. From what I’ve read, some scouts now think he’ll be able to stay at SS.

The pitching is just awful and I wish the 6 after him on the list were at higher levels or didn’t have so many question marks (Jackson, Vizcaino). The good news is that when a couple of those guys fade away they have the depth that can replace them without the system taking a huge hit.

  2. @ Rizzo the Rat:
I think they should just shut it down and just use the museum part of it. The best players need to be in the Hall of Fame and that includes Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe. They either need to do that or they need to establish a different system that elects players to the Hall of Fame.

  3. That Sosa stat from the previous thread blows my mind. Would have never guessed he’d have been that high in the HR rankings prior to 1998.

    Good stuff, mb.

  4. I think Vogelbach should start the season at AA. He’s clearly not going to learn anything at the lower levels, seeing as he’s so thoroughly dominated them. Thoughts?

Yeah, maybe so. High A definitely, though. I don’t see what a return trip to A is going to do for him: it’s not teaching him to play 1B, most likely, and it definitely isn’t showing him pitching he can’t mash.

  6. A-Rod’s hip needs surgery.

That new contract extension basically bought them one World Series championship among all the playoff appearances. I’m kind of wondering if it was still worth it, and leaning towards “maybe”.

  7. @ Myles:
I would probably move him to High A to see how he handles it, but my guess is that the team moves him up to Low A. He hasn’t played baseball in a full-season league yet and the Cubs gave him a late start last year.
