Kyle Tucker, Cub

Mostly to get a new thread, but yeah (pending official word). Jed Hoyer did a thing where he got a star, and the 2025 Cubs season is looking more promising. With Kyle Tucker in the fold, and Isaac Paredes out, that opens up third base for someone else (possibly in-house, or another fun move), reduces the need to move Nico Hoerner, and we’re still waiting on a Cody Bellinger trade. What a day.

I feel like the Cubs didn’t lose much in getting this done even though deep down I know the three reported pieces have value. This is pretty awesome.

This is my feeling as well. Paredes has greater value to the Astros and the Cubs are dealing from a position of strength on prospects and fringe starter types.

  3. As soon as I saw Paredes among the possible trade pieces to Houston, I knew this deal would get done. That left field is his natural habitat as a hitter (dying laughing).

I don’t quite get Houston’s interest in Wesneski, but whatever. I have to think Cam Smith could have a similar favorability hitting in Houston, assuming he ever does.

If the Cubs are unable to extend Tucker, it may get really difficult, like World Series in 2025 or bust difficult, to make this look like a good trade. But I will say this: people who think Jed is on the hot seat have considerable ammo now, because this is a we-have-to-make-the-postseason trade. Can’t say that bothers me tremendously.

  7. Rice Cube,

I’m guessing they’d build it around the stand the way they did for the Venator to make it more stable. I kind of wonder if it’ll have any interior build or detail (assuming it’s not one of those fragile playsets that’s technically a UCS like they did a couple times for DS1).
