I’ve got tickets to Game 5. Let’s win this fucking game.
North Side PatQuote Reply
Maddon once again said on the pregame show that they need to “score some points.” Whatever. Maybe they should try that instead of scoring runs.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Good Jake please.
berseliusQuote Reply
Tons of movement, would be nice if more were strikes.
berseliusQuote Reply
I don’t see Arrieta faring too well against this patient lineup.
dmick89Quote Reply
This looks to be another game where Cubs pitchers give up a ton of walks.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Puig hit that a million miles per hour.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
Let’s not exaggerate, it was more like Mach 3.7
berseliusQuote Reply
Schwarber hits a liner to the left side against the shift, but somehow finds the only fielder there.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Stop hitting the ball hard right at people.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Might not be vintage Jake, but it’s been Effectively Wild Jake so far.
berseliusQuote Reply
Rizzo strikes out in his first AB yet again.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
WILLIE
berseliusQuote Reply
Willson!!!!
PerkinsQuote Reply
Uh-oh. The Cubs took a lead with a home run. That never leads to good things.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Okay, this time DON’T give up the lead, Cubs.
PerkinsQuote Reply
JAVY
berseliusQuote Reply
Javy!!!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Javy!!!!
PerkinsQuote Reply
Some of these pitches are strikes, but they get called balls because they miss their spots and Willson stabs at them.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Jesus, Anthony.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Javy again!!!!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Javy again!
PerkinsQuote Reply
So it’s a good idea to bench Baez sometimes
BVSQuote Reply
EL MAGO
Berselius is too lazy to log inQuote Reply
Now we start Operation Wear Out Dodger Bullpen.
BVSQuote Reply
Terrible throw, Jake.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rare good point by Darling – it must be kind of weird to throw uphill.
berseliusQuote Reply
Jake looked filthy that inning
berseliusQuote Reply
I hope Jake gets at least one more start, but if this is his last as a Cub, he’s doing a hell of a job.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Good Jake is good!
North Side PatQuote Reply
Jesus, Kris.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I miss when Bryant could hit.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Pretty embarassing swing by Rizzo there. That should count as two strikeouts in the box score.
berseliusQuote Reply
Stop striking out, Anthony.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
That’s four walks and a hit batter for Jake.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Not a good throw, Willson.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
It’s not a Jake start without a wild pitch.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Man, Willson
berseliusQuote Reply
Another strike that didn’t get called because Willson reached for it.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Five walks. One hit batter.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
berseliusQuote Reply
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Jesus, fellas.
berseliusQuote Reply
I’m honestly a little baffled how umpires miss obvious strikes just because the catcher moves his glove a bit.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Thought Javy had another one there.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Perkins,
Extreme same.
berseliusQuote Reply
Not sure I love the two-inning save.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Not great Bob.
berseliusQuote Reply
As I was saying…
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I hope Justin Turner turns an ankle going back into the dugout.
PerkinsQuote Reply
If Strop, Edwards or Rondon gave up that homer, everyone would point to that as evidence of how bad they are.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Ball four was probably a strike, but whatever.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Not that it needs to be said in their final game of the year, but this bullpen fucking blows.
dmick89Quote Reply
He can step on Chris Taylor’s ankle and have both of them turn their ankles.
berseliusQuote Reply
berselius,
I approve of this.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Me neither, but it sets up a Lackey appearance
BVSQuote Reply
Wow, tough play for Bryant
berseliusQuote Reply
BVS,
He didn’t come here to get a haircut.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Maddon is doing his “I only trust one reliever” thing he did with Chapman, only Davis is no longer on Chapman’s level.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
At least it’s not with a giant lead this time.
berseliusQuote Reply
What the fuck
berseliusQuote Reply
What the fuck?
dmick89Quote Reply
Oh my god.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Maddon is going to punch an umpire.
PerkinsQuote Reply
(dying laughing), you can tell the HP umpire thinks this reversal is horseshit
berseliusQuote Reply
Eric Cooper can and should drink a gallon of bleach.
PerkinsQuote Reply
All this over one extra pitch.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
The umps never should have even gathered in the first place. Maybe the dodgers can argue Willson dropped that one.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
There was a runner on first. It wouldn’t even matter that Willson dropped it.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Perkins,
I was talking about that one that resulted in the strikeout. I was joking.
dmick89Quote Reply
Is Eric Cooper the crew chief or did they defer to him because he was at 3rd?
BVSQuote Reply
Two walks for Wade!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Get fucking relievers who can throw fucking strikes. Goddammit.
FonteYESQuote Reply
Davis has impeccable command according to these announcers.
dmick89Quote Reply
So Bosio has a bum ankle and he is wearing a boot. The Cubs pitchers must not like him much since they keep having him come out to mound.
BVSQuote Reply
dmick89,
Ah, I missed the joke.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Of course it has to be chase utley who ends the Cubs season (probably)
Brilliant
FonteYESQuote Reply
Fuck your grindy ass Ultey. Eat shit.
FonteYESQuote Reply
dmick89,
They said Jake had good command, too.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
So who’s the Cub 9th inning pitcher tonight? Still Davis? Strop and Edwards both pitched last night. Duensing?
BVSQuote Reply
Rizzo the Rat,
Effectively wild
BVSQuote Reply
Screw the closer, fellas.
berseliusQuote Reply
BVS,
I think it’s Davis’s game to lose. But hope Strop is at least warmed up.
berseliusQuote Reply
Oh FFS Davis could bat.
berseliusQuote Reply
Davis is in the on-deck circle. Ugh.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Pinch. Hitter. Now.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Davis isn’t even bunting? He’s just taking pitches? WTF??
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I read his 77 as 17 for a second and thought this was Bryant (dying laughing)
berseliusQuote Reply
Hey, he’s swinging!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
I’ll somehow be less mad if the Cubs lose after letting Davis hit here, just because it’s so bafflingly novel and stupid.
PerkinsQuote Reply
This is weird.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
(dying laughing), this is hilarious
berseliusQuote Reply
Perkins,
Last year, Chapman hit. (But he was a much better pitcher.)
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
You know, Pedro Strop is actually a good pitcher. He can be wild, but… so can Davis.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Caught a break there
berseliusQuote Reply
I wonder if Heyward spends this entire offseason working on his swing again.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Don’t understand pinch hitting Heyward for Schwarber
BVSQuote Reply
If KB’s bat were to wake up here, that would be okay.
berseliusQuote Reply
He came in as a defensive replacement an inning or two ago.
berseliusQuote Reply
How many pitches will Wade be allowed to throw? 100?
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Davis is going to throw 50+ pitches to try to finish this game. His Nats outing is going to look like a side session.
North Side PatQuote Reply
2 or 288
berseliusQuote Reply
Oh joy, I finally finish this shit I have been dealing with and get to see the Dodgers come back to finish in four.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Kris Bryant’s last home run was 9/25.
JKVQuote Reply
The Cubs should get a few gift strikes to make up for last inning.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Damn Davis, more like that.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Cubs pitchers having Three True Outcomes sort of game.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Ugh.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Double play, please.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Inverted M
berseliusQuote Reply
Thank you, Wade. Thanks to your help, dodgers_in_five may soon be a reality.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Thanks, Cubs!
PerkinsQuote Reply
berseliusQuote Reply
That’s right. Just three more.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Tomorrow, may there be men on base for the Cubs’ homeruns.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Jake showed vintage good Jake. Maybe for the last time. At least we got to see that. Season continues for one more day. I’ll take it.
FonteYESQuote Reply
I think the Cubs have some experience coming back from a 3-1 deficit in a postseason series.
PerkinsQuote Reply
In what world does it make sense to have the home plate umpire meet with umpires in the infield and outfield to discuss a potential tipped third strike? That’s even dumber than letting Wade Davis bat in the 9th after throwing 30+ pitches in the 8th. Either the home plate umpire makes the call or you allow replay officials to make it. Nothing else makes any sense at all.
dmick89Quote Reply
But it was 3–0. Fat chance of a Theo Epstein team ever coming back from that in the Championship Series.
