RC & AC hang out by themselves this time because everyone else had better things to do or whatever. Topics include:
- Awesome work by Wicks and Assad
- What’s up with Taillon
- Cubs vs Brewers
- The very likely opening Wild Card round
- Some thoughts on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter
I did a bit more editing this time but got pissed off several times because my mouse crapped out here or there and changed settings all funky on me, so at least this is a short one.

Reds we’re 0-26, but now they’re 1-27. Damn.

At least the Reds still lost, and the Dbacks are still losing

Any of the guys with * seem like good adds to me. Carrasco and Anderson have been bad bad bad this year.

Not that pitcher wins matter but Steele has a shot at 20 if he starts every five days instead of every fifth turn through the rotation.

Perkins,
I think they would normally do that if Stroman was healthy and Smyly didn’t suck, but it also might be a good idea to give guys like Assad and Wicks more rest and to also minimize bad Taillon

Today’s IG looks quite tough. I appreciate the freebie on SDP .300 career hitter, though Gwynn is over 90%. (dying laughing)

I put Jose Vizcaino in the center square and then quit. Career .300 hitters may as well be unicorns, especially on recent expansion franchises.

Perkins,
Praise be to Terry Mulholland. That dude was traded midseason 6 TIMES and played for 12 teams. It’s a nightmare remembering which ones, so he kills as many of my grids as he saves, (dying laughing).
andcountingQuote Reply
Rice Cube,
I was shocked at the rarity score of ~1% for Miles Mastrobuoni. Obviously it will fluctuate as the day goes, I almost never use active players so that could have something to do with it.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
Honestly I was surprised that former Cubs legend Aramis Ramirez had such a low score
Rice CubeQuote Reply
I was surprised Jacque Jones was one of the highest for CHC-MIN. Wish I’d thought to use Matt Garza, Jason Marquis, or Joe Nathan. Equally surprised Luis Castillo is only at 1% on MIN-NYM.
My grid is pretty laden with former Cubs: Derrek Lee, Kyle Farnsworth, Matt Lawton, Jacque Jones, Edwin Jackson, and Sam Fuld.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Rice Cube,
There are just so many. Even with Aramis he came over with Kenny Lofton, and Jose Hernandez and Bobby Hill went the other way, so remembering that trade triggers other less obvious answers. I went with Bill Madlock who was a surprisingly popular choice. Rick Reuschel may have been better. But out of nearly 300 possibilities to show up on 22% of the grids is a pretty good showing by ARam.
andcountingQuote Reply
Perkins,
That IS surprising. I never ever remember Jacque Jones, and even when I hear his name I confuse him with Juan Pierre. Rick Aguilera always comes to mind first, even before Coomer.
andcountingQuote Reply
My proudest ex-Cub answer was Rey Sánchez for Mets/Rays.
