Since trades happened, a podcast also has to happen as we discuss…

  • The legend of Christopher Morel
  • The ramifications of adding Isaac Paredes (and hopefully more)
  • Our thoughts for the rest-of-season
  • Softball etiquette

    berselius,

The phrase “flip him for Ricky Nolasco” rings in my ears from the memed reactions to Al’s trade fantasies 15 years ago. (dying laughing)

There is a very good chance the White Sox were confused about which Vargas they were getting from the Cardinals system, which would be hilarious if it weren’t the Cardinals that benefited from the mistake.

Not having your new guy or the returning slugger in tonight’s lineup has yielded predictable results thus far, but third time through comes soon

It’s objectively hilarious that the White Sox are 27-82 yet (and I’m guessing here) have had 8th-inning leads in 137 games.

Not sure if it includes tonight’s blown save, but the White Sox have the 9th most save opportunities in baseball (45) yet the fewest saves (17!!!!!!!!!!).

    Rice Cube,

It’s hard even to know what the most shocking part is: that their bullpen is so bad or that a team with only 27 wins has been in position to get a save 45 times (and ten of those wins came with no save at all). I can’t imagine what caring about that team would feel like.

    berselius,

Why waste the time searching for the best candidate when you can get a head start with someone who might be good? I’m paraphrasing, but that was literally Reinsdorf’s reasoning for giving the job to Getz.

I often wish the Rickettses allowed Hoyer to operate more like a big market POBO, but at least they’re not Jerry.

I realize it almost certainly won’t matter, but maybe the Cubs should have lined it up so that Hendricks would pitch in the Cardinals series.

Looks like the Cubs are getting Motorola sponsor patches on their uniforms. I’d hate it less if I thought that money would actually go back into baseball operations, but we all know it won’t.

    berselius,

Yesterday’s start epitomized everything in this article. Really rough start, struggled with his command, only three strikeouts.

    Oh, and allowed one run.

(dying laughing), just found myself regretting that the Cards managed to dodge Cyle in their four game series.

Believe it or not, I heard Steele give up the HR on the radio on the way home and then saw the Cubs tie the game on ESPN, bless the included cable package

I’ll take 3/4 anytime, but it’s also annoying the Cubs were one dropped pop-up from a likely four game sweep.

    berselius,

I especially love it because Adbert’s feed is basically, “GO CUBS GO, PLAY THE DAMN SONG,” “Nice,” “👀,” and “Maduro’s a foul dictator, democracy will prevail, the voice of the people shall not be denied!”

Practical question for the jabronii: any tips for recording a podcast when the hosts live in different cities? A friend and I are kicking around the idea of a Star Wars podcast that’s basically drinking and analyzing SW.
