Sources: #Cubs continuing to show interest in Sonny Gray, even after Jose Quintana trade. One reason: Vacancy still remains in ’18 rotation.

    Ryno,

In that situation, I’d trade Arrieta, Lackey, and Davis. Someone is bound to give up something good for the chance that Arrieta becomes good again, Davis would net a haul of prospects, and there’s bound to be a contender with a thin enough rotation that they think Lackey would help (much as the Cubs traded for the ghost of Steve Trachsel in 2007).

To wit, the Yankees just lost Pineda to a UCL tear. He’ll need TJ surgery.

Berselius is too lazy to login: Ryno, If nothing else, this will hopefully drive up the price for the Brewers.

I think this is probably what it is. I just don't see the Cubs trading Davis unless they can't get on track and if that happens, there's no real urgency to acquire someone like Gray. You may as well as ask about him, but I'm not sure that means much. I don't see them including Russell, Baez or Schwarber in the deal so it would be next to impossible to acquire him without trading Davis first.

    EnricoPallazzo,

Jumping Off Bridge, a.k.a. JOB, ©EnricoPallazzo2017, is a time management method as described by Enrico Pallazzo in a blog comment. It is a reaction to Getting Things Done, a.k.a. GTD, ©DavidCo2001, dispensing with the complexity of that system. It is similar to Blowing Yourself Up, a.k.a. BYU, used by various in IS but without the claim of managing the time of random people who happen to be in proximity.[citation needed]

    Perkins:
The Goddamn Brewers won. They put up an 8-spot in the second inning.

I still say it doesn’t matter what the Brewers do. If the Cubs don’t want to be an also-ran, they just have to win.

Yeah, though it would be nice for them not to have to win every single game against the Brewers.
