Ryno,
If that goes down, it has to include one of Schwarber/Baez/Russell, right?
PerkinsQuote Reply
Perkins,
I’d assume it would be one of Baez/Russell and De La Cruz…to start.

If the Cubs land Gray, do they trade Arrieta before the deadline?
RynoQuote Reply
Ryno,
In that situation, I’d trade Arrieta, Lackey, and Davis. Someone is bound to give up something good for the chance that Arrieta becomes good again, Davis would net a haul of prospects, and there’s bound to be a contender with a thin enough rotation that they think Lackey would help (much as the Cubs traded for the ghost of Steve Trachsel in 2007).
To wit, the Yankees just lost Pineda to a UCL tear. He’ll need TJ surgery.

Ryno,
If nothing else, this will hopefully drive up the price for the Brewers.

EnricoPallazzo,
i wrote this as a joke but am now realizing it’s actually kind of true. if you guys need anything, i’m just gonna go jump off a bridge.

I bet Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters could be signed very cheaply now.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Perkins,
Yeah, I don’t see how the Cubs swing a deal for Gray without trading Russell (or Davis to a third team for prospects).

or Dan Haren in 2015.
dmick89Quote Reply
I think this is probably what it is. I just don't see the Cubs trading Davis unless they can't get on track and if that happens, there's no real urgency to acquire someone like Gray. You may as well as ask about him, but I'm not sure that means much. I don't see them including Russell, Baez or Schwarber in the deal so it would be next to impossible to acquire him without trading Davis first.

EnricoPallazzo,
Jumping Off Bridge, a.k.a. JOB, ©EnricoPallazzo2017, is a time management method as described by Enrico Pallazzo in a blog comment. It is a reaction to Getting Things Done, a.k.a. GTD, ©DavidCo2001, dispensing with the complexity of that system. It is similar to Blowing Yourself Up, a.k.a. BYU, used by various in IS but without the claim of managing the time of random people who happen to be in proximity.[citation needed]

Good start. Unfortunately, Willson will almost certainly ground into a double play.

Could Davis get a 9-inning save?
dmick89Quote Reply
Wow, this Quintana deal is paying off already.

Sigh.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
You’d think an 8 run lead would be safe. Not with this shitty team.

I hate it when runners go on first move against a lefty. Ugh.

The criteria for a balk is about as clear as the definition of the strike zone.

A team that can’t hold an eight run lead doesn’t deserve to think about the playoffs.
PerkinsQuote Reply
The good news is we could win a good 80 to 85 games next year.
dmick89Quote Reply
So obviously this is the only way that the Cubs will trade Davis to get Robles and Fedde.

The Goddamn Brewers won. They put up an 8-spot in the second inning.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Davis continues to build up value.
ceruleanQuote Reply
I still say it doesn’t matter what the Brewers do. If the Cubs don’t want to be an also-ran, they just have to win.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Yeah, though it would be nice for them not to have to win every single game against the Brewers.
