Most of the stuff I was tracking was in the previous post, but the official list is out with no DFAs (yet) since the Cubs had room:
The Cubs will therefore roll the dice on the other Rule 5 eligible guys, but since most rosters are still stuffed to the gills, they’ll probably be okay for the most part. Now we just need to see if all those rumors of Carlos Correa come to fruition…

I’ll believe the Correa interest when I see him at the podium with a Cubs Jersey on. I can’t help but think if you’re the Cubs and you’re serious about Correa, you’d also be making a strong push to sign Verlander. There aren’t any draft picks tied to Verlander either, right?

dmick89,
Verlander received a QO before methinks, so they couldn’t give him another one, so it would be nice…

My gut feeling is it’ll be Trea Turner. Pure hunch, but I could see it. The Cubs could be a shockingly fast team if they wanted to be.

It might not be as impactful as a North American athlete doing so in one of the major sports leagues, but I think Australia is probably slightly more tolerant, regardless, good for him

Next year is his age 40 season, that’s a lot of $ to be throwing at an older gentleman although he would likely be good for a couple more seasons…but all that wear and tear plus the TJS, man

The relievers that have already been extended by their parent clubs plus the Perez acceptance of the QO, the Tyler Anderson and Nick Martinez deals may have set a price point for pitching, at least at the level of “this guy probably won’t suck” for back of rotation stuff and elite-ish relief pitchers.

Also BREAKING for the time being: my brain, because I don’t get it because Toronto had a good offense and team going that they should maybe keep together?

Rice Cube,
Official, Rosenthal said this was the final arb year for Teoscar so that explains the relatively light return https://twitter.com/Mariners/status/1592912998011916289?t=QGP8Up8KzQOdEepA3vydtg&s=19

BN did a summary of Athletic article re: Cubs catching options for those of us who don’t subscribe (I probably should but my LEGO habit is expensive)

Rice Cube,
3/120 seems reasonable and at least the Cubs wouldn’t be on the hook for nearly a decade.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
If they did something like that they’d probably need that third year to vest or something similar at that age, but whatever extra they have to pay him would be like penance for not just trading for him in 2017

Expectedly, Alcantara wins NL Cy Young, now to wait another hour before they announce the AL winner because that’s how MLB Network rolls

No Ryan Tepera vote this time but I guess he’s in the AL now so whatever

Verlander won AL Cy Young unanimously as well

Andor is awesome.

Easily the best live action SW show and some of the best content since Disney took over. Rogue One and TCW Season 7 were also great.

Perkins,
I haven’t seen any SW since whatever the first prequel was called. So when I kept hearing about how great Andor was I asked manu if it’s something someone like me would get. Last thing I wanted to do was waste my time on something. I’m sure there’s a few things I’ve missed, but I love it. IMO it’s the best thing Disney has done in a long time.
