By all rights this team should be capable of scoring better, but everyone is playing like crap so that even if they do get baserunners, none of them are coming home. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll address this when we pod or whatever, and perhaps they’ll score some run(s) against the Giants, who even knows anymore?

That’s tough to say. It beat him to the catcher, but it was off in the LH batter’s box. So the catcher leaned over to catch it while partially blocking the plate, then slid his shin guard over to completely cover the plate as Wisdom slid in feet first and then applied the tag. It was quite a lot all at once.

It doesn’t seem like he has varied in the slightest all year, it has just caught up to him lately. He relies on chased pitches and the element of surprise when the ball actually finds the zone. His flyball luck is gone with the wind blowing even a little out.

I would also have loved to see Yu Darvish with this team the past few seasons both for his abilities/production and general excellence as a human being.
Man, Heyward really messed up a lot of the FO’s plans by falling off a cliff his first season with the Cubs. But also they’re a big market team and have no excuse for failing to operate like one.
