I got nothing here, just needed a new thread probably. By all rights this team should be capable of scoring better, but everyone is playing like crap so that even if they do get baserunners, none of them are coming home. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll address this when we pod or whatever, and perhaps they’ll score some run(s) against the Giants, who even knows anymore?

Tonight’s attempt to score more than the other team
DH Tauchman
3B Morel
CF Bellinger
RF Suzuki
LF Happ
2B Hoerner
1B Busch
SS Swanson
C Amaya

I’m not sure Hoerner is doing any favors playing with a fracture.

What the TOOTBLAN hell just happened

Tonight’s strike zone also annoys me

yesss Pat just called Jordan Hicks Jordan Wicks
berseliusQuote Reply
Why, Dansby, why?
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Welp.
andcountingQuote Reply
Rice Cube,
Why did he crush the ball with the bases loaded? (dying laughing)
andcountingQuote Reply
These fuckers really need to learn how to hit with RISP, even if it takes a bunting clinic.
PerkinsQuote Reply
berselius,
Boog keeps calling him Wicks too, (dying laughing)
andcountingQuote Reply
Morel’s eye at the plate has vastly improved and he’s getting absolutely punished because of it.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
He needed to hit it where they ain’t (dying laughing)
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Another sad challenge it seems but the grapevine tells me he could’ve been safe
Rice CubeQuote Reply
There is something bigger than all of us that doesn’t want the Cubs to score ever.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
It is entirely possible that the deal with the devil has expired abruptly
Rice CubeQuote Reply
That really was a play I wish Wisdom would have given him the Buster Posey treatment, because he completely smothered home plate.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
How much did the ball beat Wisdom to allow that setup?
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Rice Cube,
That’s tough to say. It beat him to the catcher, but it was off in the LH batter’s box. So the catcher leaned over to catch it while partially blocking the plate, then slid his shin guard over to completely cover the plate as Wisdom slid in feet first and then applied the tag. It was quite a lot all at once.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
Yeah I guess it would be hard to argue that he wasn’t in the act of fielding with that setup which I assume was the hope of the challenge too

Given how things are going, I assumed he posted that after the HR (dying laughing)
berseliusQuote Reply
Every time Wesneski gives up a HR he should have to do a hundred push-ups or something.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Fucking hell Wesneski stop that now
Rice CubeQuote Reply
The strike zone changes every half inning, and that’s pissing me off.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
It does but he isn’t helping himself here either…sigh
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Just never give Leiter a clean inning. Bring him in with seven men on base if you can.
andcountingQuote Reply
He SWUNG into the goddamn pitch!!!
andcountingQuote Reply
The Cubs simply can’t ever have a complete game from everyone anymore sigh
Rice CubeQuote Reply
andcounting,
No more challenges and I guess that’s a judgment call anyway if it did hit him…sigh
Rice CubeQuote Reply
I hope Thairo Estrada breaks his arm.
PerkinsQuote Reply
For all the talk about enforcing rules, the rule that a ball is a strike if it touches a batter as he strikes at it wasn’t called there, and it was obvious.
andcountingQuote Reply
Seiya woot

Seiya!!!

This half inning has been cathartic and I hope the Cubs can hold the lead.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Fuck yes.

Sure looked like Bailey’s homer hit his name on the video board lineup.

I would be happy if Cubs pitching would kindly stop serving meatballs on their menu
Rice CubeQuote Reply
I hate this team.
PerkinsQuote Reply

Rice CubeQuote Reply
You can make this shit up
berseliusQuote Reply
I get that the options are limited, but how many times does Neris get to lose the strike zone and blow a save before he’s removed from closing duties?
PerkinsQuote Reply
Gonna need some kind of shakeup, that was so stupid
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Perkins,
It doesn’t seem like he has varied in the slightest all year, it has just caught up to him lately. He relies on chased pitches and the element of surprise when the ball actually finds the zone. His flyball luck is gone with the wind blowing even a little out.
andcountingQuote Reply
andcounting,
It’s like he had been facing the Cubs in May all year.
andcountingQuote Reply
Given they don’t actually have many short term assets to sell and there’s a decent pipeline, I’d be trading for Danny Jansen and a late inning reliever or two.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Unfortunate
Sigh
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Also not to pick on Neris too much, but I wonder how much his reputation/respect as a clubhouse leader is tarnished by his performance this year. Athletes tend to be like soldiers in that it’s tough to respect or follow someone who can’t get the job done.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Perkins,
Well, J-Hey was a respected guy for a long time, although he only really sucked on one side of the ball
Rice CubeQuote Reply
The guy this team really needs, and who should have been part of it independent of any other roster decisions, is Bryce Harper.
PerkinsQuote Reply
Perkins,
That ship has sailed, but I just came to say that technically the Cubs did score more than one run today and I guess in that sense my stupid post worked (dying laughing)
Rice CubeQuote Reply
Rice Cube,
Yeah I know there’s no chance in hell. They just really could use that combination of talent, fire, and swagger that Harper provides and not many players have it all.
Their support of fascists will always be the worst, but pinching the purse strings when Harper was a free agent is the second worst thing the Rickettses have done in my book.

berselius,
I would also have loved to see Yu Darvish with this team the past few seasons both for his abilities/production and general excellence as a human being.
Man, Heyward really messed up a lot of the FO’s plans by falling off a cliff his first season with the Cubs. But also they’re a big market team and have no excuse for failing to operate like one.
