Wanted to bring this over to the new thread.
I’m OK with multiple DHs. I’m really OK with anything that gets the most talent on the field at any given time.
dmick89Quote Reply
How long before Lackey is booed?
dmick89Quote Reply
Soon if not now.
MylesQuote Reply
I’m just glad we have a great offense against a mediocre pitcher today.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
That could have been worse.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Bruce did not look graceful there.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
i feel like the general exuberance of fans right now is such that no one is really gonna get booed while the cubs are in first.
EnricoPallazzoQuote Reply
This inning could use more time outs.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
This is such a great offense.
dmick89Quote Reply
Simon is clearly punching above his weight here.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
he’s listed at 6’6″ 265. i will bet my life savings that he is over 265 and not by a little.
EnricoPallazzoQuote Reply
Wow.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Wow
dmick89Quote Reply
simon on pace to throw 588 pitches. he may not finish the game.
EnricoPallazzoQuote Reply
I was hoping to see the second time through the order, but the Reds’ bullpen should be just as fun.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
And Heyward has the dubious distinction of striking out twice in one inning.
I wouldn’t mind if the Cubs have many innings of such distinction. Unbelievable.
ceruleanQuote Reply
This team has also become adept at scoring more runs than they have hits and leaving lots of people on base.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Just throw strikes, John.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
cerulean,
The LOB numbers should come down when the team remembers the home run exists.
dmick89Quote Reply
Man, Lackey sucks. He is just serving meatball after meatball. It’s not sustainable.
MylesQuote Reply
Great catch.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Good fucking grief. We’re up 6 in the 4th on a wind-blowing-in kind of day when all mortal Cubs teams of yore would have made Alfredo Simon look like Pedro 2000 and the mood here is practically fucking morose.
Cheer up, chuckleheads. This shit is special.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Jesus, he crushed that.
dmick89Quote Reply
The Reds have already thrown 120 pitches.
It’s the 4th inning.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Most. Patient. Team. Ever.
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Maybe a little too patient (dying laughing)
ceruleanQuote Reply
Meanwhile, Lackey is at 67 pitches through 5. Not bad.
ceruleanQuote Reply
But the champagne is too bubbly!
MylesQuote Reply
cerulean,
I think he was somehow at 59 through 5 in his last start despite giving up 6. Maybe it was 69. It’s was ridiculously low for the number of runs allowed.
dmick89Quote Reply
dmick89,
I think that just goes to show that his ineffectiveness comes from being hit like a punching bag. I can imagine that hitters find his fastballs enticing. I am also left to wonder how he had such a great year for the Cardinals.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Pirates lose!
Rizzo the RatQuote Reply
Smokestack Lightning, Did you only read 5 random comments or something? Just trying to figure out how the mood is morose when most of the comments have been either positive or just plain fucking impressed with how good this team is.
dmick89Quote Reply
Yeeeah. Lackey. Probably shouldn’t have a rotation spot come playoff time.
Who out there can be had in trade?
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
I saw some bitching. I did not approve.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Twas me, I’m sure. Just dislike Lackey.
MylesQuote Reply
I am rooting for both the Mets and the Indians to bow out early this season for lack of offense and maybe some pitching underperformance from a guy they are willing to deal. The Braves have already bowed out and from what I hear they absolutely don’t need pitching in return. Add Tampa Bay to the wish list too.
ceruleanQuote Reply
Cardinals lose.
I want the 5 back rule for whole division by the Fuhrer’s birthday.
Smokestack LightningQuote Reply
Smokestack Lightning,
I am certain the Fuhrer would have been one of the best fans in baseball. It would be a fitting gift.
ceruleanQuote Reply
According to disembodied voices on the four-letter network, Steph Curry is the first guard to average 30 points a game since Jordan in ’91/’92. And he did it without playing in 18 fourth quarters. Looks like he may miss tonight’s too, up by 20. 73 wins seems inevitable. The Warriors were everything the Bulls were not this year.
ceruleanQuote Reply
How the fuck did that game clock in at less than three and a half hours?
berseliusQuote Reply
Even if the Cubs won 7 of every 8 games, they’d have a worse winning percentage than Golden State. They’d need to win about 144 games to match the Warriors win percentage. (dying laughing)
dmick89Quote Reply
See? MOROSE. (dying laughing)
